The Athenian is a 10-seat wine bar from the same people behind The Immigrant, another wine bar in the East Village. Along with a pretty big list of affordable Greek wines by the glass, they serve Mediterranean small plates like spreads and pitas, meatballs, and grilled octopus.
The Immigrant is a beer bar on one side and a wine bar on the other. As far as East Village bars go, this is one of the nicer, calmer ones.
In a pinch in the Lower East Side, Souvlaki GR supplied The Infatuation with some great Greek street food. Yes, it’s random. And yes, it’s delicious.
Westville East is a great utility spot, especially if you’re looking to eat something kind of healthy.
