The Spots
Edy’s Grocer is a Lebanese deli, but you don’t have to be low on hummus or muhammara to love this Greenpoint spot. You’ll find a bunch of different Middle Eastern and Polish comfort foods here, like kale pesto grilled cheese, potato leek soup, pierogi, and shakshuka. But for Mother’s Day, focus on the gift boxes. They include things like dried flower bouquets, dark chocolate-covered almonds, and a mini recipe book written by the shop’s owner. Orders can be placed online ahead of time, but you can also just stop by the shop anytime this week and grab one.

The Hit List: New NYC Restaurants To Try Right Now
If you’re planning to keep things casual for Mother’s Day this year, grab some pastel-colored bagels and a mimosa kit from Baz. Typically, a pink, blue, and turquoise bagel situation wouldn’t be our first recommendation, but these are from one of the best bagel spots in the city — plus they ship nationwide through Goldbelly, so you can still surprise your mom by sending her a bagel bundle even if she lives in Nampa, Idaho.

The Best Bagels In New York City
Not all moms want flowers and a card for Mother’s Day. Some would prefer a hip-hop brunch with a lineup of female DJs and unlimited mimosas. If that sounds like the person you’ve been told to call “mother,” head to Beatstro in South Bronx this Sunday for their special bottomless brunch that costs $25 per person. To get one of the last few reservations, or to learn more about the talented group of DJs performing this weekend, head to their Instagram.
