Yasar's Kitchen
Yasar’s Kitchen, a Turkish restaurant in Walthamstow, is a neighbourhood stalwart for many occasions. Come early evening, multi-generational gatherings sink into soft, velvet seats for low-key birthday celebrations that require little pre-planning and minimal fuss. They’re joined by solo locals who choose a quiet corner of the dimly lit, cave-like space, and chat with staff between mouthfuls of meltingly soft hummus kavurma. At midnight, the music is louder, the marble-effect tables and neon strip lights feel more clubby, and the bleary-eyed, unsteady-legged descend from the nearby Blackhorse Beer Mile for well-seasoned doners and reviving glasses of Coke until 3am on Saturdays. The food is tasty, satisfying stuff. And, while not one of the best Turkish restaurants in London, Yasar’s is a dependable option if you’re in the area.
