Veg & Tings
With its bright yellow exterior and familiar-sounding name, wannabe detectives and those with basic observational skills shouldn’t be surprised to learn that Veg & Tings is the little sibling to Fish, Wings & Tings next door. This corner of Brixton Village Market is slowly being taken over by bright Caribbean flavours and one of London’s great sun trap courtyards, and we’re very much here for it. It’s all vegetables at Veg & Tings, be it Trinidadian doubles with doughy roti and pleasingly humming chickpeas topped with tamarind sauce, or a generous plate of Rastafarian ital stew. It’s hearty, healthy-feeling stuff that’s all about satisfaction. Inside, it’s casual, with a handful of tables and stools, but we can’t help but think this should all be enjoyed—with some homemade pepper sauce on the side—when the sun is shining.
