Detroit Pizza London
Included In
This small but mighty operation started out as a delivery and takeaway-only situation in Battersea during the pandemic. But since then, this Detroit-style pizza spot has opened a permanent restaurant on Commercial Street with exposed brick, a huge blackboard menu, and American paraphernalia hung up around the place.

It’s not the kind of space you’ll spend hours in, mostly because it’s small, but also because it’s more of an in-and-out kind of place. There are a handful of high tables and stools where you can perch, making this welcome addition to Spitalfields a great spot to hit up for a quick weekday lunch. And while a single £4 slice of their 'Red Stripe' is enough to fill you up, the dough is so chewy and so fluffy, with a layer of cheese and a river of rich marinara on top, that we're willing to bet you'll want a whole pie. Because when they’re the kind of cheese-covered, marinara-heavy, deep-dish pizzas that taste as good as they look, everyone’s going to want a slice.

Their menu has 10 pizzas to choose from including classics you’d expect, like pepperoni and margherita, and toppings you won't find everywhere like a vegetarian number topped with cacio e pepe sauce, mushrooms, and potato, and a cheeseburger pizza—topped with minced meat, pickles, and burger sauce—that actually tastes like a cheeseburger. And while they’ve got some perfectly inoffensive buffalo wings and salads on the menu, you’ll regret filling your stomach space with anything other than the excellent pizza, so don’t bother.
