It’s a national version of Pat’s popular NY1 segment, “In The Papers”, and it will make you smarter.
Pat’s “Perfect For” Picks
Freddie and Pepper’s Pizza (303 Amsterdam Avenue) – “It’s nice when your neighborhood pizza shop is known for something more than a regular slice. Freddie’s Bacon Spinach Tomato pie is excellent.”
Pastis (Now Closed) – “Consistently buzzing since the days when the Meatpacking District was best known for its butchers.”
Mas (Farmhouse) (39 Downing St.) – “Fine dining and great service, but without the stuffiness of many restaurants in the top tier.”
Serious Take-Out Operation
Chirping Chicken (355 Amsterdam Ave.) – “The amount of take-out and delivery food they move through this store is amazing. Great taste and quality, and a bargain compared to almost everything in the neighborhood.”
Gabriela’s (688 Columbus Ave.) – “For weather like we’re having now, the dining room is just fine. But the margaritas and Mexican food at Gabriela’s are a particular favorite when enjoyed on a summer night in the Columbus Avenue restaurant’s big sidewalk seating area.”
Pat’s Twitter People
@palafo – “the NY Times newsman who curates links from his newspaper and elsewhere.”
@joshrobin – “NY1 political reporter is quick with the Twitter updates when there’s state or city news.”
@newyorkology – “smart tweets from the web site that has info for tourists and New Yorkers alike.”
@alex_segura – “he must be worth following because he’s my most frequent re-tweeter. (And he finds interesting stuff from others too.)”
@JimmyFallon – “A lot of celebrity tweets seem to come from publicists. It’s not hard to see that Jimmy’s tweets are his own.”

Nancy is the host of a little show called Entertainment Tonight. She also contributes to NBC’s Today Show and Dateline, is an author, a mom, and a former […]
VH1′s Big Morning Buzz Live with Carrie Keagan has been very good to us over the last couple of years. We’ve been invited on the show to discuss a few different food related things, and they even let us bring April Bloomfield and a whole roasted pig to the studio at 8am one time. That’s […]
Just like everyone else these days, we’re big Fred Armisen fans. He’s been making us laugh on SNL for years with skits like this hysterical (and somewhat controversial) impersonation of Governor Paterson. And while we still enjoy his sketches on SNL and hope to for a long while more to come, Portlandia has given us […]
